Identify the model and start-up system

Find the manufacturer, model and current manual. A freestanding wood stove, fireplace insert, boiler and automatically ignited appliance can require different methods. A manual firelighter is not a replacement for a gas ignition system or an automatic igniter. Do not bypass a faulty start-up system by introducing another fuel.

Compare manual and label

Check the appliance’s permitted ignition materials and the firelighter’s stated uses. Read amount, position and method on both sets of instructions. If the two do not clearly agree, obtain confirmation from the appliance manufacturer. A general internet guide cannot grant approval that is missing from the product documentation.

Prepare the normal fuel load

Use the specified dry wood and loading pattern. Maintain the required air spaces and start-up settings. Firelighter helps ignite prepared fuel; it does not replace the main fuel or correct blocked airflow. Never add it to flames or embers, and do not increase the quantity to compensate for repeated lighting failure.

Then select stock and ordering details

For occasional use, compare the 40- and 80-cube formats; for more frequent use, consider 200 cubes or the 180-cube tube if storage conditions suit. Retailers can enquire about carton quantities. Include the product variant, amount and delivery destination. For technical questions, provide the appliance model and the relevant manual passage.
